It doesn't appear that this has been tried before now. It seems they are just getting approval to try it.
I dunno. We've been playing God for thousands of years. We've domesticated crops and animals based on selective breeding. We're still doing it with horses, dogs, rice, wheat, etc.
What's the difference if it's done in a test tube versus selective breeding?

I think I agree with Smartypants. This is just a new way for them to play God. "Survival of the fittest" knocks out everything from this biznass to people with glasses-- let alone stem cell research, cloning and the like. "Two mothers," though? Can't wrap the mind around that one.
I keep my shit simple: eat, drink, smoke, work (to pay for drink and smoke), sleep (around). Having a happy life isn't rocket surgery. Or brain science, for that matter.
This is a logical expension OF survival of the fittest.
But on a species level.
We have become the only species on Earth that that engineer it's own evolution....
Fucked if I know what my own opinion is... but I suppose some things cannot be changed.
No matter what we think or do. This stuff is gonna happen regardless.
